Impact
The ADSKGreenGames challenge took place within that time period from October 12 to November 12, 2020. The team tracked activities and reported:
35 people participated in the GreenGames challenge
226 actions taken during the 30-day challenge period
3 avocado trees were planted in the cloud forest of Costa Rica
Examples of actions taken include reducing meat intake, saving energy at home, composting, food waste management, encouraging people to vote, and picking up trash during daily walks.
Even after the challenge ended, participants continued to report actions. The challenge provided a way to “meet” colleagues with similar interests and work together to do better for the planet. The initiative also provided welcome relief from the stress of working from home and other challenges brought by 2020.

What parts of the challenge were most helpful? Here’s what Frederique shared:
The Climate Action Challenge book gave me all the timeframes and timelines and the action to do one by one to make it a successful launch.
Collaboration: Our team reviewed a podcast or an action posted in a climate action challenge portal and then passed it on as an opportunity for participants in our challenge.
Input from mentors on how to run a challenge without needing to create an app
Weekly assignments and check-ins because it kept me accountable. It’s like back to school. Give me homework. Give me a timeline and I will do it. Otherwise, it just gets lost with everything else we have to do in life.
Next Steps
Moving forward, the team is planning to:
Review the previous challenge to identify ways to improve it in the future
Explore holding the event annually, making it bigger and better each year
